بواسطة Nir Rosen

11/02/2010 23:30 pm

المكان: Johnson Center Cinema, George Mason University

Nir Rosen is recently back from a six week trip to seven of Iraq's provinces. He will discuss where Iraq is today and also the dire situation in Afghanistan. Rosen has spent most of the last seven and a half years reporting from Iraq but he has also been reporting from Afghanistan since 2004, where he has visited with the Taliban, embedded with Afghan police and watched security decline while anger has increased. Rosen’s new book, Aftermath, is about civil war, sectarianism, occupation, resistance and counterinsurgency from Iraq to Lebanon to Afghanistan. His book covers the regional impact of America’s wars in the Muslim world, in places like Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Afghanistan. He also looks at the Saudi and Iranian roles in the region. Attendees will be able to purchase a hardcover copy of Aftermath at the event to be signed by Rosen.

Nir Rosen was born in New York City in 1977. He is a freelance writer, photographer and film-maker who has worked in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and other insecure regions. His book on Iraq In the Belly of the Green Bird: The Triumph of the Martyrs in Iraq, was published by Simon and Schuster early in 2006.
